I have a question for my fellow bloggers who happen by Sarch's Blog. Are any of you fellow "jogger bloggers"? If so, do you jog every day or every other day or some other interval? I keep hearing conflicting information regarding the frequency one should jog. One camp seems to think you should rest a day between jogs to let the muscles and knees "rest and repair". The other camp seems to think you should jog every day.
What is your opinion?

I'm afraid I'm not a jogger but as a rule I suspect the rules for any exercise regime would apply - rest is just as important as the exercise itself. I suppose with jogging it might depend on how much you do. The best tip I was ever given was to listen to your body.
Hmmmmm. I jogged once back in the early 70s and have been taking that break between jogs ever since. I guess I'll need to sit this one out, but I wanted to let you know that I dropped by. ;)

Everything needs rest.
There once was a time when I was extremely focused on my athleticism. If I missed a workout, whether it was cardiovascular or the free weights I worked twice as hard the next day to make up for it. I was to the point where I was working out 7days a week. The body can only take so much of that. Things broke down, and I got hurt.
Perhaps professional athletes can practice this more effectively and safely than the rest of us, then again, if you aren't a professional, why put your body through that everyday. Like I said, everything needs rest.
Howdy Father! While you know I have about as much experience at jogging as a wet mop does at drying I thought I'd come by and let ya know I still read the posts!
Oh, and i'd say jog until ya feel the rest is necessary *shrugs*
Ok, move aside and let the "real" athlete speak! :) Frequency depends on what your goal is. Assuming it's just for general health, I'd suggest every other day. Run on surfaces that are less jarring, if possible. For example, rather than running on sidewalks move to the street. Sidewalks are cement while the street is blacktop. Slightly more giving.
Jog early in the day if you want to burn the most fat. Interval jogging does this best. Three or four minutes of a fast burst followed by a slower pace until you catch your breath.
I lift in the gym one day and then jog the next during the week. This allows a rest day for each while still being productive. Weekends are rest days from either activity.
Probably more than you wanted to know but it barely touches the surface!
Weights, cardio, weights, cardio.
Weekends rest. I have found that inclined walking on the treadmill at about 3.6 mph keeps an elevated heart rate and is much better on the joints.
Many years ago I loved to job, but then I started getting shin splints. I got out of the habit when I had my first son and couldn't get out as much. I rest between exercise days. Say exercise one day - rest for say a week or two, lol.
Hi there,
I think you should jog one day, and blog the next.
Thanks for linking to me!

Jogging? What's that? We eliminated it from our vocabulary a few years ago. Walking is healthier and easier on the joints. Don't you just love Irondad? (: Happy Riding.
